Cuenca is a beautiful ancient city of autonomous community of Castilla-La Mancha, located in the Cuenca province of Central Spain. The city of Cuenca is popularly known as �Eagle's Nest� because of its position. The old town of Cuenca is perched on the top of a hill while the modern city of Cuenca is situated at the foot of this hill. The city of Cuenca is famous for its hanging houses known as La Casas Colgadas, in Spanish language. These hanging houses are situated at the edge of the gorge of river Huecar. Though its architectural assets are not as rich as those of Toledo, Cuenca has a different kind of appeal. The magnificent blend of natural beauty and artificial construction makes Cuenca a special place to be in. the quaint little town of Cuenca is best visited during the Autumn months when the hills are covered with a mixture of green, yellow and orange, all colors of leaves. The name of the city has been derived from the Latin, Conca, meaning river basin, which refers to the gorge of the rivers Huecar and Jucar.
