The Canary Islands are a group of many islands in a large body of water in the Kingdom of Spain belonging of seven islands of volcanic origination in the widely known Atlantic Ocean. The name of Canary Islands is derived from the Latin term Insularia Canaria which means Island of the Dogs. The name gave primitively to the island of Gran Canaria. It is seemed that the thick population of an indigenous strain of big and furious dogs,alike the Presa Canario, was the feature that took the few old Romans who founded link with the islands along the sea.
In the year of 1496, the Canary islands became a region of the Spanish kingdom. It is said that the ships of Christopher Columbus halted at this Canary Islands during their journey in the time of discovering the New World.
