Sagrada Familia by Antonio Gaudi

Located in the northeastern part of Spain, Barcelona besides being a major economic hub of the nation is one of the most sought after tourist destinations of the world. The incredible landscape beauty of the land adored with a backdrop of majestic architectural works overwhelms the heart of the visitors. Sagrada Familia by Antonio Gaudi is one of the major attractions in Barcelona. The monumental church offers a glimpse of the visionary genius of Gaudi.

One of his finest creations Sagrada Familia by Antonio Gaudi is an incredible example of architectural beauty in Barcelona. The task of building this majestic church was given to the architect in the year 1883. The work of Sagrada Familia started on the site previously destined for a neo-Gothic project. Sagrada Familia by Antonio Gaudi was left unfinished due to the death of the architect in the middle of the task. The church features the dedication of work that Gaudi imparted on this ambitious undertaking. Besides focusing all his creative energies on the architectural prospects of the church Gaudi went to the extent of setting up a residence on the site of the project for giving enough attention to the building of the church. On June 7, 1926 Gaudi met with an accident while crossing the road and died at the age of seventy-four. However, his unexpected death never came across the building of the church and the work continued until it was interrupted for some reason in the year 1936. The Spanish civil war led to the destruction of the notes and designs of the architect. The work of the project was again started in 1952 and by 1976 the façade and the four towers of the passion were completed as a result of hard and efficient work. The famous sculptor Josep. M. Subirachs later on joined the team of architects to continue the work on the sculptures meant for the Portal of Passion. The entire work has not yet been completed but the visitors are allowed to see the construction process. The towers of the church, which can be climbed, offer the visitors a panoramic view of the charming city of Barcelona. If you are planning a trip to Barcelona in the near vacation then don't miss to pay a visit to the Sagrada Familia by Antonio Gaudi.
